Orchestral audition - progress report

Progress report - orchestral audition!

So for those who haven’t seen my previous posts, I have been preparing the London Symphony Orchestra audition material for a university assignment.

I decided to do this before Christmas when I saw the job advertised and the closing date was today.

The requirements were:

Segments from Sonatine by Dutilleux

Orchestral excerpts by:

Mahler- Mendelssohn- Ravel - Strauss

Now, we have 5 children between myself and my partner. They all have additional needs. This meant that practise over the school holidays + Christmas was almost impossible. Therefore I started seriously learning the material on 6th Jan and I recorded it today, 7 days later.

It’s recorded on my phone and therefore rather distorted, but regardless of this, I am going to open myself up to feedback. I could be opening a can of worms here, but give me what you’ve got. Give me the positive, the could have been betters and advice/recommendations. Aside from being useful for my playing, it will be a valuable reflective exercise for my assignment!

Thank you all!
